September 1 Luncheon Dalton Smith
Please join us for our September 1st luncheon with Dalton Smith
The luncheon will begin promptly at noon at The Harbert Center.
Mr. Smith has worked in many different capacities since receiving his law degree in 1990 from the University of Alabama School of Law. He served as law clerk for U.S. District Judge Robert Varner from 1990-1991. He then served as counsel for U.S. Senator Howell Heflin from 1991-1994. Following his work on Capitol Hill, Smith worked for both former U.S. Housing Secretary Jack Kemp and former U.S. Education Secretary William Bennett at Empower America, a Washington D.C. think tank. During this time, he held the positions of policy analyst and head of congressional relations. Smith returned to Alabama and served as policy director for Gov. Bob Riley’s 2002 gubernatorial run. During the campaign he helped draft Riley’s “Plan for Change.” After the election, Smith served in Gov. Riley’s cabinet as Senior Advisor to the Governor.
Smith is also a graduate of Auburn University and has a B.A. in Economics. He and his wife, Stephanie, have four children.
