Please join us for our Ocotber 6th luncheon with Jim Smither

The luncheon will begin promptly at noon at The Harbert Center. 

Jim Smither is president and chief executive officer of the Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau, a position he has held since September of 1993.  Prior

to joining the staff of the Birmingham bureau, he served for ten years as the executive director of the Lexington, Kentucky CVB.

Smither has a long and distinguished career in the meetings industry.  He served as director of sales for the Kansas City Convention and Visitors Bureau, and also held the

position of executive director of the Baltimore Convention Center, where he was  responsible for operation procedures and marketing programs.  He has held sales

positions with the Houston Convention and Visitors Council and the San Antonio CVB.

Through the years Smither has been closely involved with national and international meeting associations including the Destination Marketing Association International,

 serving on the board of directors and in other leadership capacities. 

During his time with the Birmingham CVB, Smither has enhanced the visibility and image of the city through major national ad campaigns and extensive public relations

programs.
