August 25th – Cocktails with Kiwanis

On Wednesday, August 25, 2010, the largest Rotaract club in the world will join the largest Kiwanis club in the world for cocktails and conversation about the 2010 football season. Cocktails with Kiwanis will feature special guest, Paul Finebaum, Alabama’s favorite sports personality and radio host. The event will take place at B&A Warehouse located at 1531 1st Avenue South across from the soon-to-be open Railroad Park in downtown Birmingham. Tickets cost only $15 and include hors d’ oeuvres and one drink ticket. Rotaractors must register online to attend this event. August 28th – 2nd Annual Rotaract Hack It Classic

Mark your calendar for Rotaract’s 2^nd Annual Hack It Classic Golf Tournament at Highland Park Golf Course on Saturday, August 28th. Registration includes 10 free drink tickets, your cart fee, green fee, range balls, snacks and exclusive Rotaract golf balls. This year’s winner will receive a special Hack It Classic trophy and a $100 tab for the post tournament party at a local restaurant.

Early-bird registration for golfers who register before August 13^th is only $57. Regular registration is $65. All participants must sign up and pay online by August 23^rd. If you’re rusty, Rotaract will throw in golf lessons on August 16^th and 26^th for only $10 a person. If lessons don’t work, we’ll trade you a mulligan for a $5 contribution to the Club. Register online to reserve a spot in the 2^nd Annual Hack It Classic!

June 24th Social – Cocktails on the Terrace

May 19th – Joint Social With Rotary

Rotaract and Rotary will join for a social at Old Car Heaven on Wednesday, May 19th from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Guests will enjoy live music, cocktails and food from local restaurants including Café de Paris, Trattoria Cetrale and Bettola among others. May 20th – Wine Knowledge for Professionals

Register for a tailored wine etiquette class for Rotaractors at the Village Wine Market in English Village on Thursday, May 20th. The event will last from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Rotaractors will sample 15 to 20 wines and learn how to order, taste and enjoy wine in a professional setting. Art After Dark: Vogel Exhibit

Think you need a money tree to start collecting art? Think again. The newly installed show, A Passion Shared: Works from the Dorothy and Herbert Vogel collection features a selection of one of the worlds most comprehensive contemporary art collections, amassed by the New York couple on Mr. Vogel’s postal clerk salary. The exhibit will be open after-hours for our viewing pleasure, and Curator Ron Platt will be on hand to offer further insight into this fascinating collection. Along with the exhibit, we’ll enjoy food, drinks, live music, and the return of warm weather in the Museum’s Sculpture Garden.

The Masquerade Ball

March 20, 2010

Woodrow Hall • 7:00 p.m.

The Rotaract Club of Birmingham will don masks for its annual Rotaract Gala to be held on March 20, 2010. The Masquerade Ball, inspired by the glitzy culture of the Roaring Twenties, will take place at Birmingham’s Historic Woodrow Hall, a newly renovated venue originally built for the Masonic Order in 1914. The event will benefit the Rotaract Club of Birmingham Foundation, which supports Rotaract’s Ready 2 Read program and other community service endeavors. Wear your favorite masquerade mask or we will provide you with one at the Ball.

Tickets to the Masquerade Ball may be purchased from any Rotaract member or online. Tickets include a wide selection of hors d’ oeuvres by D’Armond Catering, wine and beer. A cash bar will also be available. The evening’s entertainment will be provided by one of the South’s favorite bands, Second Nature, and the Birmingham Swing Dancers will demonstrate popular dances from the Jazz Age. Guests can take a break from the fun to participate in a raffle for items such as signed sports memorabilia and gift cards to Birmingham’s hottest restaurants and boutiques.

COST: $50 per person or $100 per couple

DRESS: Black tie optional

AUCTION ITEMS: Fine dining, vacation and golf packages, queen mattress set, makeovers, personal training, private dinners and more!
