Colin Coyne Biography
Colin Coyne is nationally recognized for his work in sustainability, emphasizing corporate strategic opportunities and a for-profit model to enhance the enterprise and community. Having graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.S. in Economics and Business Administration (1983) and obtaining a Master of Management Degree from JL Kellogg School of Management; Colin laid a solid foundation for a distinguished career. In serving as chief operating officer of Melaver, Inc., he successfully created and implemented business strategy for the nation’s first all-sustainable, diversified real estate concern, helping to brand the firm as a leader in sustainable development.
As president and founder of The CMC Group, Colin’s management consulting work spanned seventeen countries and twelve states, covering multiple industry segments including financial services, technology, retail and real estate. As a division president for Angeles Corporation, Colin helped pioneer new financial, retail and housing segments, while also developing expertise in the turnaround of struggling businesses.
At The Coyne Group, Colin is deeply and directly involved in client work. Colin also dedicates considerable time toward advancing the national and regional discussion of sustainable practices, those which maximize profitability by equally weighing social accountability and environmental stewardship with financial opportunity.
Colin lends his tireless efforts to several professional and civic organizations around the state including: Birmingham Business Journal Green Advisory Council, Green Resource Council of Alabama Advisory Board, Sustainable Birmingham Initiative (Founder), Responsible Property Investment Initiative, Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership (Chair, Strategy Committee), Cahaba River Society (Co-Chair, Policy & Integrity Committee), Birmingham Southern College, Norton Board (Chair, Urban Environmental Studies Committee), Alabama Green Resource Center (Board of Directors; Board of Advisors), Alabama Green Initiative (Environmental Advisory Council). Colin has been recognized with the honors of being a Birmingham Business Journal 2008 Heavy Hitter, Leadership Birmingham Member (2007), Institute of Georgia Environmental Leadership recipient (2007). Colin is a LEED 2.0 Accredited Professional as well as an Adjunct Professor at Samford University.
